Designed to emphasize visual weight and material reactivity
Made in my Design for Processes course at RISD, these sconces continue my exploration of hydraulic metal forming and my interest in surface finishing and patina. Through calibrated hydraulic compression, I induced controlled fractures in the metal sheet, transforming structural failure into a method for modulating light.
Building on previous experiments embedding metal rod into bent wood laminations, these sconces reinterpret those formal qualities in copper.
I fabricated custom hardware and constructed a custom mounting box to explore the integration of standardized components within a fully custom assembly.
