MODU
Made in 2025
Designed for movement, imagination, and growth.
The Modu Chair is a modular children’s chair that transforms through play. With five possible assemblies and two adjustable seat heights that grow with the child, each component connects like building blocks, encouraging kids to reconfigure and invent their own furniture setups — from a seat to a fort to a shelf. Designed with simplicity and color in mind, Modu bridges function and fun, inviting creativity into everyday spaces.
I studied how children ages 5–7 climb, move, and repurpose furniture during play. The brief required a chair with an added function and soft upholstery for comfort and safety. Through sketching and iterative prototyping, I developed modular components that kids can assemble and transform themselves. The final, user-tested design encourages tactile engagement, adaptability, and a sense of ownership through play.
The branding for Modu embraces a playful, approachable identity through bright, balanced colors and a simple, memorable name that echoes its modular nature. The visual language reflects both functionality and fun, aligning with the chair’s spirit of creativity and adaptability. I also developed CAD-modeled add-ons that expand its use for different needs, allowing the design to grow alongside the child.
