JOJO’S TOYS
Made in 2025
Dedicated to my brother Joziah, who my family adopted from foster care in 2018.
Jojo’s Toys is a toy set featuring a stuffed animal designed to provide comfort and companionship for children in foster care. With hidden pockets for storing treasures and special objects, it encourages a sense of ownership and security. Each kit comes with a guided journal that helps children process emotions through storytelling, as well as a caregiver guide offering tools and activities to support emotional growth and connection.
The design process for Jojo’s Toys began with conversations — interviewing individuals who had experienced foster care, along with therapists and social workers, to understand the emotional needs of children in transition. These insights guided a hands-on process of sketching, material exploration, and prototyping to create a toy that feels both comforting and empowering, blending emotional sensitivity with thoughtful, child-centered design.
I gifted the first Jojo’s Toys kit to my brother, whose feedback deeply shaped the final design. His insights helped me refine how the toy could best provide comfort and connection—and to this day, he still keeps it close, a reminder of the love and belonging it was created to nurture.
