CHAIR STUDIO
Spring 2025
Brief: Build a chair in 5 hours with scrap materials. This chair should be optimized for ergonomics and comfort
Materials: Recycled wood, found hardware
Process: This design sprint was a challenge to create the most comfortable chair possible with only found plywood material. This chair came in 2nd place out of 10.
Brief: Build the lightest chair possible
Materials: PVC pipe, CNC cut plywood, hardware
Process: This process included testing different materials and forms in order to achieve the lightest possible outcome. I played with tension, experimental materials, and negative space throughout this project.
Brief: Design a ridgid chair inspired by previous material explorations.
Materials: Ash, Copper, Plywood
Process: My chosen exploration was hydroformed metal tiles. I drew from the form language to design a chair which incorporated the copper hydroforming and patinating, ash bent laminations, and traditional wood working joinery.
